open Enrollment Live Programs
In-person and virtual open enrollment programs engage a professional audience with a live, on-campus, faculty-led educational experience. We offer these programs across all Cornell Campus locations, including Ithaca and the new Verizon Executive Education Center in NYC. These programs, presented in a variety of formats, can unfold over partial or several days and can be completed in as little as a single day or as long as many months. Open enrollment programs provide the opportunity to reach a diverse group of professional students who want to engage live with faculty and expand their professional network. During programs, participants are often asked to bring their organizational challenges directly to faculty and peers for collaborative solutioning.

Frequently Asked Questions
eCornell collaborates with academic units to design and produce academically sound and financially sustainable events. The goal for each event is to generate positive program residuals after all direct and marginal costs are covered. Because profitability of these programs varies dramatically — from below breakeven (such that they would naturally be canceled) to highly profitable — the financial model is designed as a shared-risk/shared-reward model. eCornell will absorb most of the downside risk arising from the planning and marketing expense. After a program covers its direct expenses, the program residuals are shared 50-50. These residuals are designed to cover any overhead costs and, for successful programs, provide additional funding.
eCornell is responsible for all costs related to product planning, program management, marketing, enrollment, operational support, etc.
You and your unit are responsible for academic oversight including curriculum and content.
There are several great examples of programs that have run for many years, including the General Managers Program offered for over 90 years at the Nolan School of Hotel Administration during summer and winter sessions.
We are excited about the opening of the Verizon Center as well and look forward to creating new programs!
