Dr. Isaiah (Ike) Wilson III is a strategist, educator, author, and systems thinker whose career spans military service, higher education, public policy, and executive leadership.
A retired U.S. Army Colonel, former U.S. Department of Defense senior civilian executive, and graduate of Cornell University, Dr. Wilson has spent more than three decades helping leaders navigate complex organizational, strategic, and societal challenges. His work bridges the worlds of strategy, governance, leadership, and systems thinking, drawing upon extensive experience in military (defense, development, and security) planning, public policy, executive education, and institutional leadership.
Dr. Wilson has served in senior leadership positions across some of the nation’s most respected military and educational institutions, including leadership roles within the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) and as Professor and President of the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU). He has taught and lectured at institutions including West Point, George Washington University, Naval War College, Columbia University, Yale University, and Arizona State University.
Today, Dr. Wilson advises leaders and organizations on systems thinking, strategic foresight, organizational resilience, and leadership in complex environments. He is the founder of Wilson W.i.S.E. Consulting and creator of the WiSE Way framework for systems thinking and adaptive leadership.
Dr. Wilson’s work is guided by a simple premise: The most important challenges facing leaders today are not isolated problems — they are systems problems.
