MASTER OF ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT
DEGREE PATHWAY

By earning a designated professional certificate from Cornell, you can reduce the overall number of credits needed to earn your Master’s degree. Eligible programs include:

Project Management 360 Certificate program – 2 credits
Completion of this certificate program partially offsets the 4-credit project management course in the degree. Instead of taking the course again as part of the degree, you will be required to take an additional 2-credit project that builds on what you have learned in the certificate program.

Data Science certificate program – 2 credits
The completion of this certificate program will offset the 4-credit data science courses in the degree. Instead of taking the course again as part of the degree, you will be required to take an additional 2-credit project that builds on what you have learned in the certificate program.

While you can complete as many certificate programs as meet your professional goals, only one of these two programs can be used to offset credit requirements. Students must apply for the degree program within one year of completing the certificate program.

Your participation in a professional certificate program is a great way to demonstrate your commitment to learning at Cornell!

Should you choose to apply to Cornell’s Master of Engineering Management degree program to continue your education journey, your performance in the professional certificate program, along with your other qualifications, will be considered in your application package for admission. Completion of the certificate does not replace the other prerequisites for admission into the program.

Cornell’s College of Engineering admits applicants with a bachelor’s degree from a variety of STEM backgrounds. A minimum of two years of work experience is required. Accepted applicants will have a sequence of math that includes Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and a Probability and Statistics course.

Admission is limited to US citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with a current valid US immigration status.

Professional certificate programs offered through eCornell do not bear academic credit. However, successfully completing a certificate program can offset specific degree credit requirements under the Prior Learning Assessment framework.

No, you are only eligible for financial aid when enrolled in a degree program. However by completing the certificate program you will reduce the tuition you have to pay by the number of credits offset by your prior work. Earning the Project Management 360 professional certificate or the Data Science professional certificate will reduce your tuition in the Master of Engineering Management program by approximately 8%.
