Many major cities across the United States are struggling with an influx of immigrants, and it’s one of the central themes running through the 2023 national election cycle. Yet as a panel of the National Academy of Science has revealed, there are many benefits to welcoming those born in other countries, including not only a contribution to innovation and entrepreneurship but also economic growth. According to the report of the panel, those who are foreign born make up almost a fifth of the labor force.
Join Francine Blau, a Professor of Economics at Cornell University’s ILR School, as she chairs the panel and discusses the findings of the report. Dr. Blau will help us understand the impact immigration has on the economy, both locally and nationally.
