Family estrangement affects more than 65 million Americans, often with devastating consequences. What makes family estrangement so painful? Why do these rifts arise in the first place, and how can we overcome them?
This event provides new information about how family rifts occur and how to resolve them, based on Karl Pillemer’s groundbreaking Cornell Estrangement and Reconciliation Project — including the first national survey on estrangement. The presentation combines science-based repair tools with the personal experiences of over 100 people who have mended family rifts. The result is a unique guide to healing fractured families. Dr. Pillemer assures people who are estranged, as well as those who care about them, that they are not alone and that building a bridge over a family rift is possible.
